The changes in age categories for cadet kumite male and female competitors, now 14 and 15 years old, has led WKF to increase security and protection of these younger competitors. The new Face Mask is, without any doubt, the most innovative protection amongst all existing ones in karate competition and it has been especially designed to avoid most frequent injuries on the face through techniques lacking an adequate control. The design has taken into account maximum visibility and it preserves the competitors identity at all times.
The Face Mask design has been developed under the supervision and control of the WKF Medical Commission. Tests have been performed to ensure its reliability and security. The Face Mask is a face protection intended for its specific use in karate sports practice, always respecting WKF Rules.
The design has taken into account maximum visibility, ease of identification, comfort and easy use, correct adjustement to the head and, substantially, protection of nose and eyes.
All used materials are of the most advanced and secure product range existing worldwide, e.g. VELCRO Ultramate ® y VELSTRETCH ®, for the elastic adjustment ribbon and transparent polycarbonate resin LEXAN 123R on the shade. The injection moulds used for the production are of the most modern existing technology and provide the necessary reliability of the final product.
